I created a prototype of weather-based 3D side scrolling iPhone and iPod Touch game called Category 5 as part of a team in Digital Arts Communication course. Category 5 Game Promo is available here.
My role within the team was to program the game-play, design a user-interface to handle touch screen events and write a bunch of animation scripts. I was involved in the audio and music production for the game. Moreover, I designed the 2D graphical elements and sprites.
I learned about video game engines, game development pipeline and the game design bible. I also expanded my story telling abilities after realizing through this course that video games are essentially interactive stories.
The game was featured at the University of Waterloo Media Lab at Kitchener City Hall as our final project presentation.
Canadian Center of Arts and Technology bought this video game to showcase their product to make video games accessible. This project also helped me secure a job with Canadian Center of Arts and Technology.
